Today, we’re happy to unveil the newest version of Kyno — delivering a sleek new interface, full native Apple Silicon support on macOS, and expanded camera and format compatibility to keep your workflows running faster and smoother than ever.
Native Apple Silicon Support on macOS
With this update, Kyno now runs natively on Apple Silicon, giving macOS users a noticeable performance boost. Whether you’re previewing, transcoding, or organizing media, you’ll experience faster processing, greater responsiveness, and improved efficiency across your workflows.
ℹ️ For Apple Silicon Mac users: Kyno's auto-update will keep you on the Intel version. To switch to the Apple Silicon version, please download it directly from our website.
A Fresh New Look
We’ve modernized the Kyno interface with a darker, sleeker appearance that’s easier on the eyes during long editing sessions. The selection contrast has been improved for better navigation, and we’ve introduced a more readable system font for macOS.
We’ve also made functional UI changes to keep your work flowing. The drilldown button has been moved to the main toolbar for quicker access, and the activity view is now linked directly from the status bar so you can track progress at a glance.
Performance & Workflow Improvements
Many of the changes in this release are designed to make Kyno feel faster and more fluid for daily use. Pre-analyze now runs in the background without blocking your work, and new smart proxy presets make it easier to adapt Kyno to your specific proxy workflows.
BRAW and RED RAW SDKs have been updated to ensure compatibility with the latest cameras and firmware, keeping Kyno ready for the latest gear in your production pipeline. Behind the scenes, metadata handling and shared storage workflows have been optimized for greater stability and smoother performance.
Other Changes
This release includes the option to store technical metadata and thumbnails in a shared file system, improved volume settings, and better refresh behavior for shared storage environments. We’ve made a number or security updates and minor bug fixes, and Send to Premiere Pro now works seamlessly with Adobe Premiere Pro 2025.
Kyno 1.9 is more than just a visual refresh — it’s a performance upgrade, a workflow enhancer, and a commitment to keeping pace with the rapidly changing media landscape.
